In the play, “Streetcar Named Desire” written by Tennessee Williams, The two main
characters interact symbolically. Throughout the play the actions of Stan and Blanch are
odvious, but when putting the simplicity of the actions and objects in context, the actions and

I feel that the biggest show of symbolism in the story was the simplicity of “poker night.”
Through the story you can see all aspects that would be used in a poker game. Blanche playing
the cards that she was dealt, bluffing about what she is holding. Stanley studying what she really
has and ultimately calling her buff. The poker game was a summary of the whole story by
Tennessee Williams.
