        I'm not sure when A.E. Housman wrote this poem, however, even at twenty I can identify. This poem gives light to the risk of love by accentuating the pain of losing in love.         The opening line, "When I was one and twenty" may be taken literally that he was twenty one, but for reader's sake it may be better just for this to represent a young age. showed last 75 words of 698 total…bricks after the disaster they warn of finally come to their fruition. This poem ends with the man reeling in the heavy dull pain of having lost in love. There is no worse a feeling.         I could not help but identify with this poem, but neither have millions who have read this. Housman by writing this has written the theme of youth, simply because youth is the search of love--what ever that love is.
