Ernest Hemmingway never experienced to much happiness, and ended his life with a shotgun on July 2, 1961. As is typical of Hemmingway’s fictional heroes, Harold has lost his belief in religion, tradition, and “family values” (Bernardo par. 5). Ernest Hemmingway based many of the views he had in life through the story “Soldier’s Home.” Through the characters and their ideas, he showed his feelings and thoughts on specific subjects.
