Tragedy is a vague term that does not even come close to doing Shakespeare’s works justice. His plays are much more than just tragedies, or classical drama, even though they are traditional catastrophic plays. They deserve to have a separate genre. There is no way that these plays can be classified in any one category other than the magnificent works of Shakespeare. “Tragedies”, indeed, t not just “tragedies”, that is the answer.
