We would continue to fight many more wars after the Civil War, but none of them totaled the casualties lost in the Civil War. We have never had a threat of secession since May 26, 1865. And let’s hope we never will again. Some good came from the Civil War, like the abolishment of slavery. But the southern economy suffered a major blow. It took many years to recover.
