Meanwhile, he is trying to lie to cover up the affair that he is secretly having with the Green Knight's wife. So tied with the comparison of the two character’s as a theme is the theme of Sir Gawain’s fall from grace and goodness. All men are flawed it just takes someone or something to bring these flaws out in the open.
