Consolata becomes a new "Reverend Mother" who gives them "bloodless food and water alone to quench their thirst" (265). She gave them an outlet for their pain and taught them how to let go and begin to heal each other. In the end, each woman becomes the woman she was meant to be before they were broken by the events in their lives.
