Another key change in his character occurred when he fought the spiders and saved the dwarves. The biggest change was when Bilbo proved to the dwarves that he was a thief. Bilbo Baggins started off in the book as a regular old hobbit. After the many tasks he had faced where over he had changed into a brave and courageous individual.
