According to K.A. Kitchen, before the year 2000 BC, during the Old Kingdom period, there is in the papyrus a margin of errors of at least a century. Nearer to our history, around the years 664 BC, dates come exact. ( K.A. Kitchen) For the Old Kingdom period, the best approximation of dates is done by radiocarbon test.
