Salem in all its weaknesses breaded this disastrous event. The religion allowed people to take sick enjoyment that prevented people from stopping the scandal. The way people were accused required very little evidence. The way to courts worked the influence of the powers in town greatly effected the judges decision. All these elements gave the girls enough leeway to get their outrageous and unlikely story believed.
