Come little ones open thy ears and gather nearby
This is a tale that’ll make one happy then cry
Mary and Kerri were friends until they’d depart
Larry was Mary’s high school sweetheart
Mary helped Kerri throughout her whole life
She had a rough childhood, which wasn’t very nice
Then Kerri had moved away from her long-lived home
But each day got worse, as she was alone

And so she did, after all Mary had done
Friends forever, and she gave it up for only one
…Now everybody has gone different ways
And I try not to think of that ugly day
If you could get one thing from this poem that you could see-through
Let it be the moral “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!”
