In today’s society drunk driving is a problem that increases every year. America experienced its largest increase in alcohol related traffic deaths in the year 2000 (NHTSA). Drunk driving is not an accident; it is a violent crime. This violent crime left unpunished leaves the safety of American citizens in question. Mandatory jail terms are the simple solution, if implemented by the American government that would greatly decrease the drinking and driving problem in this country.
