Washington's concerns, while valid, ultimately did not detract from the overall effectiveness of his militia. This in no way means that his views were invalid, it merely means that he was lucky. He was lucky that the New Jersey Mutiny was of a small scale, that there was not a complete division of his militia, and most importantly that the British army was less prepared than the Colonial militia.
