Since these breakthroughs, the hard drive has soared in storage capacity, and decreased in size. If someone had gone to Reynold B. Johnson and told him that 45 years later he could hold a hard disk that could store more than 100 gigabytes, or 100 Billion bytes, in his hand, he probably would have laughed. Hard drives are still a lucrative business and are essential for the level of technology we have achieved today.
