beliefs. I think the book is successful in conveying it’s symbolic message. It is rather obvious at the end of chapter 8 what will happen, but that is the only time in the book that it slips up. It is a very clever book. It is a perfect example of how symbolism can be used to enhance the story and to give, what is essentially a very basic story a deeper and more interesting meaning.
