In Art Brewer’s gelatin silver print entitled “Huntington Beach Culture, 1985” there are eleven central figures that dominate the print. The eleven people portrayed in this piece are each wearing varied pieces of beachwear and holding different beach objects. Unity is also created because no matter how diversified they all are, by either age, race, or gender, they come together because of their shared common interest. The idea that this piece is presented as several photo proofs demonstrates that he wants to evoke in his viewers a time of reflection, as if they were going through their own rolls of film from their lifetime experiences.
