The advantage being the diminution of executive layers, thus consolidating the organizational entity, and reducing the distance between decision makers and units. We feel than vertical communication problems would be thus reduced, as part of the original problem was also the time spent in conflict resolution. Implementing these changes, conflicts would have to be dealt with more directly, since it focuses the attention on their resolution, and not on transmitting them across corporate layers.
