Humans do not have the capacity to contemplate a suitable basis for God to decide. Whatever He wills is supremely just. Whatever He wills is supremely good. Whatever be His reasoning for punishing some wicked people and saving other equally wicked people, it seems a reasonable, unwavering, and safe intuition to strive to be good.
