New Enland vs. The Chesapeake Region
The New World was a place of interest in the beginning of the 1600’s, with families, single men, women all settling in either the Chesapeake region or New England. From the start, the New England and Chesapeake colonies differed, however by the 1700’s the colonies two distinctly different societies formed. New England eventually grew into larger cities while down south in Virginia tobacco was still a major part of their way of life. However, instead of indentured servants they used African slaves. Therefore, even though the colonists were all from the same mother country of England, the dissimilarity of their intentions greatly impacted their evolution to two distinct societies.
