Isaac Newton was born prematurely on Christmas day 1642 in Woolsthorpe, a hamlet near Grantham in Lincolnshire. In 1653, Newton was taken from school to fulfill his birthright as a farmer. Newton's writings on theological and biblical subjects alone amount to about 1.3 million words, the equivalent of 20 of today's standard length books. Although these writings say little about Newtonian science, they tell us a good deal about Isaac Newton. Sir Isaac Newton died in 1727. Newton's final gesture before death was to refuse the sacrament, a decision of some consequence in the 18th century.
