In the early 1900s, many men traveled alone searching for jobs. In Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, Lennie and George are exceptions. They travel in search of work together. While Lennie is in this state of mind, George shoots Lennie in the back of the head. Lennie is unsuspecting and dies painlessly. This is the best thing to do for Lennie, even though George will be very forlorn, proving that their friendship endures, even through difficult situations.
