The timing of each frame is perfect, the lengths representing the urgency of the shot, Hitchcock putting in what needs to be in, no more, no less. Unfortunately it is true some of the acting in ‘Psycho is awful, but the pieces of film and the photography and all the technical ingredients really do make the audience scream.
