His intentions were spun out of control and he ended up being executed by everyone who he thought he was helping. Robespierre may be responsible for one of the most terrible events in history, however he should also be remembered as “the first great champion of democracy and the people’s rights. And this, essentially, is what establishes his claim to greatness.”
