three and four he shows that he too can make mistakes. In the end, Sir Gawain’s character
portrays the characteristics of a human man. All humans wish to be portrayed as great, loyal,
strong, and courageous. However, it is also human instinct to fear death. People do not want to
die, and will accept help when it can be portrayed to others that they did it alone.
