There’s No Place Like Home
In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, the main character Odysseus, goes through many hardships and must refuse many temptations to return to his home in Ithaca. His ten-year journey home led him to many lands. Odysseus first encountered the Lotus-Eaters’ land, then the home of the goddess Calypso, Ogygia. His journey finally ended in Phaecia, home of the seafaring phaeacians ruled by Alcinous.

In the end Odysseus returns home to be reunited with his people. He does not receive the welcome fit for a god-like survivor, instead he must return in secret so he can extract revenge on his wife’s suitors. When all is said and done Odysseus’ family and friends are glad he has returned as is he himself.
