on the Continental Congress. After reading it, Richard Henry Lee of Virginia said that he was “Clearly convinced of the necessity for separation.” Soon after, the Continental Congress discussed declaring their independence. Less then a month later Thomas Jefferson presented the Declaration of Independence. It was all thanks to Thomas Paine’s courageous effort to do what he thought was right, that united the colonies and ended up forming the United States of America.
