Kentucky; during the antebellum period. This being in the 1850’s was a time period
when slavery was accepted in the south. Eleven years after this story was published

through with what he believed. Uncle Tom not only touched people’s lives physically, he
touched their lives spiritually; many lives were changed. As, I think what to write, I start
to realize that if Tom had not been sold to Mr. Haley in the first place, he would have
never saved Eva’s life, and would have never touched the rest of the lives of all those he
came in contact to.
