The Emancipation Proclamation was written by Abraham Lincoln to
put a stop to the war. It was issued in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
on Sept 22,1862, and put into effect on Jan 1, 1863.

In conclusion, the Emancipation Proclamation, although not accepted
by everyone at the time, particularly the large plantation owners of the
south, became the law of the land for most states and resulted in the 13th
amendment in 1865 which abolished slavery for everyone and forever.
