Diabetes Mellitus is a pancreatic disease in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body’s tissues absorb glucose (sugar) so it can be used as source of energy. Insulin is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas, which are contained in the islets of Langerhans. This disease does not discriminate nor hinder a person from living a normal life in society.
