In folktales, legends, mythology, and even the Bible, people are told stories about Hero's and their unimaginable strength, wisdom, and power. Beowulf is a great example of this, the poor young eponymous hero is left alone in the woods to survive on his own and then he overcomes all of these to kill three mythological beasts, save two entire countries and live as king of a country for over fifty years of peace and prosperity. …showed first 75 words of 1912 total…

…showed last 75 words of 1912 total…enemies, the slave master by stealing from the dragon, Beowulf's warriors by fleeing the fight, the list goes on and on. By the end of the poem the reader knows the end has come for the Geat society, the mighty hero dead, their enemies bitter and no ruler or army to defend them. It is a sad ending to what on the surface appears to be a happy tail of a hero and his life.
